DAY 1:NAIROBI(TRANSFER TO AIRPORT ENROUTE MASAI MARA)
Conveniently, we’ll pick you up from your hotel at 5 am (or at JKIA anytime) and drive to Wilson Airport. Your scheduled flight departs at 7 am (or 10 am/ 2 pm/ 4 pm) on an Embraer EMB 120. It’s a short flight of about 45 minutes. You’ll arrive at Musiara Airstrip at 7:45 am. After brief formalities, you’ll begin the exploration of the Mara, world-renown for the annual Great Migration, across the Mara River. At noon, you’ll enjoy an authentic bush lunch on the plains. At 5 pm, you’ll depart for an educative nature walk with an armed guard and a bonafide Maasai dressed in traditional African regalia. After the incredible walking safari, you’ll be transferred to a Maasai village. You’ll be transferred to Little Governors’ Camp for a luscious dinner and an overnight stay on the edge of the reserve around a seasonal marsh accessed by a very short boat ride across the crocodile-infested Mara River, then an escorted walk through the riverine forest overlooking the Oloololo Escarpment.
DAY 2:GAME DRIVES IN MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
You’ll get up at first light for a full English breakfast and full-day game drives at 7 am in one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Famous for the Great Migration, the Park is the only protected area with an indigenous population of the endangered Black Rhinos. All members of the Big Five reside here all year round. African wild dogs are rare because of the stiff competition from the honchos of the jungle, the golden lions, who often decimate their populations. The Mara ecosystem, spanning across Serengeti and Ngorongoro, has one of the highest densities of predators. Even the dramatic arrival of the Annual Migration merely adds to an already abundant resident wildlife that awaits discovery. At noon, you’ll have a piquant picnic lunch in this sanctuary for wildlife. At 5 pm, you’ll begin the drive back to the camp for a scrumptious dinner and an overnight stay. Your sleep is bound to be disturbed by the occasional lion roaring, but remember that it probably sounds closer than it is!
DAY 3:MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE TO NAIROBI
You’ll be up with the lark for a full English breakfast and game drives at 7 am. You’ll munch on a savoury bush lunch at noon on this UNESCO World Heritage site. Another chance to witness Africa’s wildlife in their natural habitat is simply awe-inspiring. Ninety-five species of animals, amphibians and reptiles, and 450 species of birds were recorded. The numerous private and community-owned conservancies and group ranches surrounding the reserve significantly extend the entire ecosystem. These conservancies have been established as partnerships between the private sector and local Maasai pastoralist landowners to ensure the conservation of the Great Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and the protection of the wildlife within it. Later, you’ll be transferred to Musiara Airstrip for departure on your scheduled flight at 5 pm to Nairobi Wilson Airport. You’ll arrive around 5:45 pm. Our driver will then transfer you from the airport to your hotel anywhere in the city.
