10-Day Mid Range Best of Kenya Safari

DAY 1:NAIROBI TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Your safari starts with your pick-up at 7:30 am from your hotel or airport in Nairobi and drive to Amboseli National Park. We arrive shortly after noon and check into Amboseli Sopa Lodge, enjoy a hot lunch and some time to relax. At 4 pm, we head out for an afternoon game drive. Afterward, we head back to our camp for dinner and our overnight stay.
The highlight of Amboseli is the great concentration of elephants, the largest in the world. It is home to over 1600 elephants from 56 different families. Each of the elephants has a name and a photo attached to its name. You will enjoy all of this with the magnificent background of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa standing at 5895 meters.Dinner & Overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
DAY 2:AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Today’s itinerary is flexible, you can discuss and arrange this with your guide. You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for a full-day game drive around 7:30 am with a picnic lunch, then return back to the camp late afternoon. Otherwise, you can depart at 6 am on an early morning game drive and return to your accommodation for breakfast, and relax for the rest of the day. We will depart at 4 pm on an afternoon game drive and return at 6.30 pm to the camp for Dinner & Overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
DAY 3:AMBOSELI TO SWEETWATERS
We have an early breakfast at 6 am, then head for Ol Pejeta Conservancy. We will drive through the slopes of Mt. Kenya, cross the equator to Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary, and arrive at Sweetwaters, a private ranch and rhino sanctuary. We will arrive shortly after noon and check into your hotel, have a hot lunch and then have some time to rest. At 3.30 pm, we depart for the afternoon game drive in search of white and black rhinos, as well as other wildlife. After the game drive, we head back to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner.
We will visit the Sweetwater Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya. Here visitors can enjoy the unique opportunity of observing the orphaned chimps that vary in age from 2-15 yrs. Enjoy the sights and sounds of man’s closest relative. It is also home to the last two of the northern white rhinos that remain in the world.Dinner & Overnight at Serena Sweetwaters Camp.
DAY 4:SWEETWATERS TO SAMBURU
At 6 am, you will proceed for an early morning game drive in search of the big cats, then return to the camp for breakfast. You will then head for Samburu Game Reserve. We will arrive in time for lunch and have some time to relax. At 4 pm, we depart on an afternoon game drive. We will search for the elusive leopard and other wildlife. The highlight of the park is the special Samburu Six. They include the Baisa oryx, gerenuk, Defassa waterbuck, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and the Somali ostrich. At 6.30 pm, we will return to the camp for dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
DAY 5: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
As Samburu is in a hot region, also known as a semi-arid area, we recommend taking advantage of the mornings and late evening as most animals go in to the shade to escape the hot sun. At 6 am we depart on an early morning game drive. We return to the camp for breakfast and relax until mid-afternoon. At 4 pm we depart on an afternoon game drive. We return at 6 pm to the Samburu Sopa Lodge for dinner and our overnight stay.
DAY 6 :SAMBURU TO LAKE NAIVASHA
After breakfast, we head for Naivasha to arrive in time for lunch. The day’s activities include a boat ride on Lake Naivasha followed by a walking safari in the animal sanctuary, a visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, or choose to relax at the hotel for the afternoon, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the shores of Lake Naivasha. After the game drive, we head back to camp to freshen up, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and overnight at Crescent Camp Naivasha.
DAY 7 :LAKE NAIVASHA TO MASAI MARA
After breakfast, we head for Masai Mara to arrive in time for lunch and some time to relax after the drive. At 4 pm, we depart on an afternoon game drive. A Masai Mara safari is an unmissable highlight of any holiday in Kenya. There are breathtaking panoramas in every direction, a vast range of wildlife including the Big Five and a rich cultural heritage to explore. Kenya’s Masai Mara is without a doubt one of the greatest safari destinations in Africa.
Between July and October, things get busy in the Great Rift Valley. Millions of zebra and wildebeest make the perilous crossing across the Masai Mara in search of new grazing territory. In their wake comes a variety of predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena that all prey on them. At 6.30 pm, we return to the Masai Mara Sopa for dinner and our overnight stay.
DAY 8-9 :MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Today’s itinerary is flexible and you can discuss it with your guide and plan for the day’s schedule. You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for a full-day game drive around 7:30 am with a picnic lunch. This will give you a chance to visit the Mara River where the migration happens. You will also have a better chance to view wildlife all day and return back to the lodge/camp late afternoon. The second option is to leave at 6 am for an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast. Relax until the afternoon game drive at 4 pm. Return at 6.30 pm for dinner and overnight at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.
DAY 10 :MASAI MARA TO NAIROBI
Depending on your flight details, you will organize the details of your departure from Masai Mara with your guide. You will be transferred to your Nairobi location or to the airport for your home-bound flight.
In Nairobi you could also request optional excursions: Giraffe Centre, National Museum, Bomas of Kenya, Kazuri Beads Centre or the Karen Blixen Museum.

  • Children aged 3-12 years pays 75% of rates when staying on their own room separate from adults.
