4-Day Mt Kenya Trek (Sirimon–Sirimon)

Mount Kenya is the second-highest mountain in Africa and one of the most scenic destinations in Kenya. It is rich in vegetation, waterfalls, rivers, glaciers, and wildlife, attracting travelers from all over the world.
This 4-day trek follows the Sirimon route, known for its gradual ascent and beautiful landscapes. The route passes through forest, moorland, and alpine zones, offering diverse scenery and excellent views of the mountain.
The trek is ideal for hikers looking for a shorter but rewarding experience. The highlight is reaching Point Lenana (4,985m) for sunrise before descending back via the same route.

Details Itinerary

Depart Nairobi at 8:30 am and drive to Sirimon Gate (2,660m), located on the northwestern side of Mount Kenya. Upon arrival, meet your guides, porters, and trekking team.

After lunch at the gate, begin your trek along a well-defined trail through forest and moorland. The walk is gradual and allows time to adjust to the altitude.

After about 3 hours and 9 km of trekking, arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300m). Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

After breakfast, begin your trek toward Shipton’s Camp. The trail leads through moorland and into alpine terrain with wide open views.

The hike is about 14 km and takes around 7–8 hours. You will have lunch along the way while enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Arrive at Shipton’s Camp (4,200m) in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay with views of Batian, Nelion, and Lenana peaks.

Wake up early at around 3:00 am for the summit attempt. Begin the climb to Point Lenana across rocky terrain under the early morning sky.

Reach the summit at sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. After taking photos, descend back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast.

Later, continue descending to Old Moses Camp with lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
