Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara
Your adventure begins with an early morning drive from Nairobi to the Masai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is one of the few places left in Africa where wildlife still thrives in large numbers. It forms part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem and is well known for the Great Migration of wildebeest, zebras, and predators. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at your camp, followed by an afternoon game drive to explore the wildlife-rich plains. Tonight, you’ll stay at Amani Mara Camp.
Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara
Today is dedicated to a full-day safari in the Masai Mara. After breakfast, you’ll head out with a packed lunch to explore the reserve in-depth. The park is known for its black-maned lions, resident wildlife, and excellent chances of seeing the Big Five. It’s also a paradise for bird lovers, with nearly 500 species recorded. Some cheetahs in the area are known to be unusually relaxed around safari vehicles — sometimes even climbing onto them! You’ll return to Amani Mara Camp in the evening.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Serengeti
After an early morning game drive in Masai Mara, you’ll begin your journey to Tanzania. Following border formalities, you’ll continue to Serengeti National Park. Though the drive is long, you’ll enjoy beautiful landscapes and wildlife sightings along the way. By evening, you’ll arrive at Melia Serengeti Lodge, your base for the next two nights.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti
Today you’ll explore the Serengeti, whose name means “endless plains” in Kiswahili. This vast park is home to more than 2 million animals, including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. You may also spot smaller animals like mongoose, jackals, and monkeys. Birdlife is rich here too. The day’s schedule is flexible, allowing you to enjoy multiple game drives with unlimited mileage. You’ll return to Melia Serengeti Lodge in the evening.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Start the day early with a sunrise game drive to catch the animals at their most active and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the savannah. After breakfast, you’ll head toward the Ngorongoro Crater — often called the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. This massive volcanic crater is home to an incredible density of wildlife, including elephants with unusually large tusks due to the mineral-rich soil. Tonight, you’ll stay at Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw Camp, located near the crater rim.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Your final day begins with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive in one of the most stunning landscapes in Africa. You’ll have a picnic lunch near the Hippo Lake, with time for one last game drive before ascending and exiting the crater. The tour ends with a drive to Arusha, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, depending on your travel plans.
