12-Day Namibia, Chobe & Victoria Falls Self-Drive Adventure

Highlights

This unforgettable 12-day journey takes you through three stunning African countriesโ€”Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Starting in Windhoek, you’ll drive north through Namibiaโ€™s vast landscapes, past wildlife-rich parks and riverine ecosystems of the Caprivi Strip. Then, switch to guided safaris in Chobe National Park, before ending your journey at the majestic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. This semi self-drive adventure perfectly blends independent exploration with immersive guided experiences.

Details Itinerary

Arrive in Windhoek and transfer to collect your 4×4 rental car. Begin your journey by driving north to Okonjima Plains Camp. Enjoy the rest of the day on a self-guided walk or book an optional afternoon wildlife activity.

After an optional morning activity, head toward Etosha National Park (approx. 4.5 hrs). Settle in at Onguma Bush Camp on the park’s eastern edge. Enjoy a sundowner overlooking the waterhole or go for your first drive into Etosha.

Spend a full day exploring Etosha National Park and Onguma Reserve. Drive yourself or join a guided game drive (at extra cost). Expect to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, and rare antelope.

Drive northeast (approx. 7 hrs) as the scenery shifts from dry desert to lush riverine forests. Stay at RiverDance Lodge, set on the banks of the Kavango River near Divundu.

Enjoy optional activities like game drives in Mahango or Bwabwata National Parks, hiking, birdwatching, boat cruises, or a local village visitโ€”all bookable through the lodge.

Drive further east to Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge, located beside Nkasa Rupara National Park, known for elephants and buffalo crossing from Botswana.

Enjoy a flexible day with optional game drives, night safaris, walking safaris, or cultural visits. Wildlife often roams close to the lodge due to the lack of fences.

Drive to Katima Mulilo and drop off your car. A transfer takes you into Botswana to stay at Chobe Bakwena Lodge near Chobe National Park. Arrive by 2 PM to enjoy your first Chobe activity.

Go on a morning game drive and afternoon boat safari on the Chobe River. This area is home to Africaโ€™s largest elephant population and countless other species.

After breakfast, transfer by road into Zimbabwe (approx. 2 hrs). Check in to Ilala Lodge Hotel, just a short walk from the entrance to Victoria Falls.

Explore the falls independently or take a guided walking tour. Optional activities include a helicopter flight, microlight, Zambezi river rafting, or visiting Zambezi National Park.

After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight.
