Masai Mara National Reserve Park Fees 2024

Normaly,the park entry fees of Masai Mara National Reserve is based on the entry points and the location of your lodge.

The rate for individuals residing inside the park is $70 while those outside the park is $80.

NOTE: IMPORTANT UPDATE 01: From 01st JULY 2023, a 12 (twelve) hour ticket validity is to be effected. Some of the points to note are that guests staying outside the reserve will be required to pay a daily entry fee wherein the ticket will be valid from 6am to 6pm. DEPARTURE BY ROAD:

Secondly, all guests departing from the Reserve by road should exit the reserve not later than 10am. Exit beyond this time will attract additional entry fee. DEPARTURE BY AIR: Guests residing both inside and outside the reserve departing by air should arrive at the airstrip not later than 10am. Extension beyond this time will be considered an additional day in park fee. A 2 hour transit ticket will be issued to guests coming from facilities outside the reserve, at the gate of entry, to allow them to reach the aistrips within the reserve. Additional rules apply. PROPOSED PARK ENTRY FEE FROM 01st JANUARY 2024


Narok County Government has proposed ( subject to confirmation) that Masai Mara Park Fees for 2024 be increased to USD 100 per non resident adult per day from 1st January 2024 and to USD 200 per non resident adult per day, from 1st July 2024 ( Peak Season). These rates have been suggested and may undergo a consultative process prior to official confirmation by the County Government. It is therefore widely expected that irrespective of the exact increment, 2024 Park Fee will nonetheless be revised upwards.

Note all information and fees listed here is subject to change without notice and should be confirmed for accuracy with the respective reserve authorities. For Kenya National Park entry fee the official authority is the KWS (Kenya Wildlife Service).

How to Pay / Mode of Payment : Payment in Cash US Dollars or Kenya Shillings is accepted at the entry gates except if you are paying for entry to the western side of the reserve, namely Mara Triangle – Mara Conservancy area, where only cashless payment is accepted ( either Visa / Mastercard or Mpesa Mobile Money). Cashless modes are also accepted as an option fo all the other gates including for Sekenani and Talek gates. Citizens and Residents of Kenya are required to carry identification and proof of residence to avail the cheaper Resident rates. Pre-Payment (obtain tickets in advance) is possible through the KAPS company located in the KATO office, Longonot Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi.

* Some of the well known Lodges and Camps located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve ( best accessed from Sekenani Gate) include Sarova Mara Camp, Keekorok Lodge, Governors Camp (main), Ol Moran Camp, Mara Explorer Camp, Mara Leisure Camp, Fig Tree Camp, Mara Intrepids Camp, Mara Simba Lodge and Sand River Masai Mara Camp. The rate of USD 70 per adult per 24 hours therefore applies.

**Resident rates are applicable to residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Visitors are required to present their National ID (for Kenyan citizens) or Passport displaying Work permits or appropriate Visas to prove resident status upon entrance into the reserve. Visitors without a valid passport are required to pay the non-resident rates.

*** Child rates are applicable to persons 3 to 11 years old. Persons under 3 are free.

****Students rates are only applicable for persons aged up to 23 years old, sponsored by a recognized learning institution, and in possession of a valid student ID and visiting the reserve on a pre arranged school-organised trip or for research authorized by ticketing office of the Masai Mara Reserve in Narok. Students must obtain permission to use these special rates at least two weeks in advance of their visit.
