- The iconic Masai Mara Safari, which provided me with a chance to see the diverse array of stunning wildlife in the Kenyan landscape, encounter the Great Migration, the striking sunset, experience a birds-eye view of the stunning Mara and Mara River, and learn about the Maa culture while on village visits.

- Visiting the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the world’s largest intact caldera, creating an “Eden” where I got the chance to see diverse wildlife such as the Big Five (Leopards, Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, and Rhino) and the stunning landscapes.
- A cultural visit to Masai or Hadzabe villages, enabling me to interact with and appreciate the rich Masai culture.
- While I did not climb Kilimanjaro, it is one of the best experiences for hiking lovers who visit Tanzania, as it allows individuals to journey through five distinct climate zones, all while experiencing the breathtaking scenery, lush greenery, and magnificent wildlife along the way. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s highest peak, and making it to the summit is an incredible experience that will build your resilience and offer you a sense of accomplishment. The good thing about climbing mt. Kilimanjaro is that its is not a hard climb, as it does not require technical skills, allowing even experienced hikers to make it to the summit.
- A visit to Ruaha National Park, which is home to about 10% of the world’s Lion population, with a striking backdrop of baobab trees.
- Chimpanzee trekking in the awe-inspiring rainforests of Gombe and Mahale was among my top experiences, as it gave me a chance to encounter endangered gorillas in their natural habitat and appreciate conservation efforts in the country.
- Relaxation on the pristine Zanzibar beaches, which allowed me to enjoy the warm turquoise water, white sand beaches, and the striking palm trees. Another thing that was a key highlight for me when I visited Tanzania was the mouth-watering delicacies such as the urojo soup, the Zanzibar pizza, pilau biryani, octopus coconut curry (pweza wa nazi), and vitumbua, just to mention a few. While at Zanzibar, I also got a chance to visit Stone Town and the spice farm, giving me an opportunity to appreciate and experience the Island’s rich history, culture, and heritage. Swimming with turtles in natural lagoons was also an unforgettable and magical experience while in Tanzania, allowing me to connect with nature.
- Visiting the historical town of Bagamoyo also allowed me to further soak in the rich and amazing Tanzanian culture.
- Witnessing the tree-climbing lions at Lake ManyaRA National Park was truly fascinating, especially since I am a Big Cat enthusiast.

Visiting Uganda, referred to as the “Pearl of Africa”, is an exciting opportunity as it allows individuals to experience the country’s diverse culture, friendly and hospitable people, jaw-dropping encounters with primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas, wildlife safaris in places like Kidepo, Queen Elizabth, and Murchison falls, cultural immersion in Kampala, hiking ‘the Mountain of the Moon”, relaxing by stunning Lake Bunyonyi, and adrenaline-pumping activities on River Nile, among many other experiences.

- Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest, which offered me an opportunity to see the magnificent endangered gorillas in their natural habitat.

In addition, the country’s vibrant culture, strong governance, and spectacular landscapes make it one you should definitely consider visiting.
My best experiences in Rwanda included:
- Visiting the Volcanoes National Park to see the endangered gorillas in their natural habitat.
- Exploring Kigali, which is clean and secure.
- Seeing the magnificent wildlife, such as the Big Five, landscape, and greenery in the Akagera National Park, gave me a chance to appreciate the robust conservation efforts in the country.
- Visiting Nyungwe National Park for the Chimp trekking experience. Witnessing the primates in their natural habitat was truly an unforgettable experience for me.
- Exploring Lake Kivu and getting to experience Rwanda’s famous coffee while enjoying the beautiful lakeside scenery.

Madagascar, which is the world’s largest Island, is an amazing African destination owing to its spectacular beaches, lagoons, reefs, turquoise water, white sand beaches, lush greenery, and diverse wildlife species. A fun fact about Madagascar is that approximately 90% of its wildlife is not found anywhere else in the world, making it an ideal destination for people looking for that unforgettable and unique touch. In addition, the Island also boasts of posh accommodations that allow tourists to enjoy modern amenities, ensuring they experience comfort and luxury while on their stay.
While I have not personally visited Madagascar, among the best experiences in Madagascar are:
- A guided lemur trek in Miavana (once a refuge for pirates), providing you with an opportunity to appreciate the Island’s conservation efforts.
- Visiting the Avenue of Baobabs, ensuring you enjoy the picturesque views.
- A helicopter tour to the Tsingy rouge or Ankarana, allowing you to enjoy an aerial view of the Island’s jaw-dropping scenery.
- Exploring Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park for a chance to see incredible razor-sharp rock formations, which are unique to Madagascar. However, it is essential to note that the park is only accessible during the dry season. Also, while at the park, you can explore the dramatic gorges in the Manambolo River and the nearby Petit Tsingy.
- Visiting the Kirindy Forest Reserve, where you will get a chance to see a diverse array of plants and animals, including eight species of lemurs, the narrow-striped mongoose, Berthe mouse lemur (the smallest primate globally), the jumping giant rat, and fossa (Madagascar’s largest predator).
