Arrive at Machame Camp where your tents will already be set up. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Continue your Mount Kilimanjaro climb with a steady ascent towards Shira Camp, gaining significant altitude along the way. This part of the Tanzania Tours journey offers expansive views of the plains below and the towering peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi above. The terrain becomes more open and rugged as vegetation changes dramatically.
As you climb higher, you will encounter unique high-altitude plants such as giant lobelias and senecios. The trail leads you across ridges and valleys, offering some of the most scenic viewpoints on the Machame Route. Hydration and steady pacing are essential as the altitude increases.
Arrive at Shira Camp on the Shira Plateau, where you can relax and enjoy panoramic mountain views. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
This is a crucial acclimatization day on your Mount Kilimanjaro climb, following the principle of hiking high and sleeping low. As part of your Tanzania Tours experience, you will ascend to higher altitudes before descending to Barranco Camp. The trail passes through rocky landscapes and offers dramatic views.
You may take an optional detour to Lava Tower, a significant landmark that helps your body adapt to the altitude. After reaching the highest point of the day, descend to Barranco Camp, which is widely regarded as the most scenic campsite on the route.
Settle in for dinner and overnight stay surrounded by towering cliffs and unique vegetation.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Your Mount Kilimanjaro journey continues with an early climb up the famous Barranco Wall, a rewarding and adventurous section of the trek. This part of the Tanzania Tours route offers incredible views and a sense of achievement as you navigate the steep terrain.
After conquering the wall, continue through valleys and ridges towards Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. The landscape becomes more barren as you approach higher altitudes, emphasizing the dramatic environment of Kilimanjaro.
Arrive at Barafu Camp in the afternoon, rest, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt. Dinner and early overnight.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of your Mount Kilimanjaro climb. Around midnight, begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak under the stars, guided by headlamps. The climb is steep and demanding, but determination and support from your team will carry you forward.
Reach Stella Point at the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. Standing at the summit is the ultimate highlight of this Tanzania Tours experience, offering breathtaking views of glaciers and the surrounding landscape.
After celebrating your achievement, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Moshi/Arusha
On the final day of your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. The trail can be steep and muddy, but the lush environment provides a refreshing contrast to the higher altitudes experienced earlier in the trek.
