Day 1: Arrival at Chief’s Island – Camp Hippo
Upon arrival at Maun Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide who will assist with your luggage and provide a short safari briefing before departure.
Travel by open safari vehicle toward the edge of the Okavango Delta, passing through local villages, floodplains, and beautiful changing landscapes that introduce you to Botswana’s wilderness.
At Boro Boat Station, board a motorized boat and begin your scenic journey deeper into the Delta’s waterways. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife as the scenery transforms into a remote wetland paradise.
Upon arrival at Camp Hippo near Chief’s Island, settle into camp and relax while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the Delta wilderness. As the sun sets, gather around the fire and listen to the sounds of nature while preparing for the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Following the Hidden Channels
Wake up to the sounds of birds calling across the reeds and hippos grunting nearby before enjoying an early breakfast at camp.
Set out on a morning motorized boat safari through the winding channels and lagoons of the Okavango Delta. Glide across calm waters while exploring deeper floodplain areas where hippos often gather in large pods. Your guide will carefully navigate through the channels in search of crocodiles, elephants crossing the waterways, and the incredible birdlife that thrives within the Delta ecosystem.
Return to Camp Hippo for a relaxed brunch and time to unwind during the warmest part of the day while enjoying uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness.
Later in the afternoon, depart on another scenic boat safari exploring hidden lagoons and remote waterways along the edges of Chief’s Island, one of the Delta’s richest wildlife regions.

Day 3: Full-Day Adventure & Island Exploration
After breakfast, enjoy a longer boat excursion combining peaceful water exploration with a guided island walk, depending on seasonal water levels.
Cruise through narrow channels lined with papyrus and reeds while observing birds, antelope, and wildlife gathering along the riverbanks. Your guide will explain the unique rhythms and ecosystems of the Delta while navigating through untouched wilderness areas.
Later, step ashore on one of the islands near Chief’s Island for a guided walking safari. This slower-paced experience allows you to track wildlife on foot, identify animal signs, and learn how the Delta’s ecosystems support a wide variety of species.
There may be opportunities to encounter elephants moving quietly through the trees, antelope grazing in open clearings, and, with luck, distant sightings of predators within the surrounding wilderness.
Return to camp in the late afternoon for dinner and storytelling around the campfire beneath a sky filled with stars.

Day 4: Departure from Chief’s Island
On your final morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing by boat through the Delta’s beautiful waterways one last time.
