3-Day Adventure to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Highlights

This 3-Day Africa Safari Trip takes you to Ugandaโ€™s most visited protected area, Queen Elizabeth National Park. Covering 1,978 sq. km in western Uganda, this remarkable park is home to over 100 mammal species and more than 600 bird species. With its breathtaking landscapes of savannah, crater lakes, wetlands, and tropical forests, Queen Elizabeth offers the perfect mix of game drives, boat cruises, and cultural encounters. On this trip, youโ€™ll enjoy sightings of elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, lions, and abundant birdlife, with the added chance of spotting the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha or chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge.

Details Itinerary

Your Africa Safari Trip begins with an early breakfast at your hotel before your driver-guide picks you up at 7:30 am. After a short safari briefing, embark on the six-hour scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, stop at the Equator for photos and in Mbarara for a delicious lunch. The journey offers spectacular views of Ankole long-horned cattle, lush tea plantations, and the Rift Valley Escarpment.

Arrive at Queen Elizabeth in the afternoon and enjoy a short introductory game drive as you head toward your lodge. Look out for elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes along the way. Settle in, relax, and later enjoy dinner before overnighting in the heart of the park.

Rise early for coffee or tea before setting out on a morning game drive through Kasenyi Plains, the best area for spotting predators. Lions and leopards often patrol here in search of Uganda kobs, while elephants, buffaloes, and warthogs roam the savannah. Birdwatchers will also enjoy sightings of colorful species across the grasslands. Afterward, return to your lodge for breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on a two-hour boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel is a haven for hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes that gather along the banks. The boat ride also provides excellent opportunities for bird photography, with sightings of kingfishers, pelicans, and African fish eagles. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the sounds of the wild around you. Depending on your preference, you may opt for a short primate walk in the park before departure. Begin your journey back to Kampala, stopping for lunch en route and visiting Mpambire Drum Centre to witness traditional drum-making and shop for souvenirs. Arrive in Kampala in the evening, where your driver will drop you at your hotel or Entebbe Airport, marking the end of your memorable Africa Safari Trip.
