Highlights

If you’re searching for unforgettable Uganda trips, this 5-day adventure combines gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, thrilling game drives, and a relaxing stay at Lake Bunyonyi. You’ll explore three of Uganda’s prime destinations: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and Lake Bunyonyi. This trip offers encounters with the Big Four, close-up views of mountain gorillas, and cultural moments that will make your safari in Uganda truly memorable.

Details Itinerary

Your Uganda trip begins right from the airport or your hotel. After a warm welcome by your driver-guide, you’ll depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular safari destination. The drive takes you through scenic landscapes and lush countryside, with a lunch stop on the way. On arrival, you may embark on an evening game drive if time allows, spotting elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and possibly lions. Otherwise, you’ll settle into your lodge and relax as you prepare for an exciting day ahead.

Accommodation: Pumba Safari Cottages

After an early breakfast, head to the stunning Kyambura Gorge for an adventurous chimpanzee tracking experience. The gorge is often called the “Valley of Apes” and is home to habituated chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, and countless bird species. You’ll trek through lush vegetation and rugged terrain, listening to the calls of primates echoing through the gorge.

Return to your lodge for lunch, then in the afternoon enjoy a breathtaking boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where the waters teem with hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife along the shores. This two-hour excursion is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Accommodation: Irungu Safari Cottages

This morning, you’ll drive through the famous Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its rare tree-climbing lions. While sightings aren’t guaranteed, the thrill of spotting lions draped across fig tree branches is unforgettable.

You’ll then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to almost half the world’s mountain gorillas. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and relax in preparation for the gorilla trekking adventure awaiting you tomorrow.

Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge

Today is the ultimate highlight of your Uganda trip. After breakfast and a briefing by experienced rangers, set off into the dense forest to track a gorilla family. Trekking can take anywhere between 2–6 hours depending on their movement, but the reward is priceless. You’ll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.

After lunch at your lodge, you’ll transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, known for its 29 islands and stunning terraced hillsides. Enjoy the peaceful views, optional canoe rides, or simply relax at your lakeside lodge.

Accommodation: Bunyonyi Overland Resort

Wake up to spectacular views of Lake Bunyonyi, often called the “Switzerland of Africa.” After a leisurely breakfast, begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, stop for lunch in Mbarara and at the Equator line in Kayabwe for photos and souvenir shopping. Arrive in the late afternoon or evening in time for your departure flight or hotel drop-off.
