Details Itinerary

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your professional safari driver will welcome you to Uganda and transfer you to your lodge in Entebbe. This evening is for relaxation and adjusting to the African atmosphere before your adventure begins.

Today youโ€™ll embark on a scenic drive southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The 9-hour journey takes you past rolling hills, tea plantations, and small towns. Stop at the Equator for photos and enjoy lunch in Mbarara before arriving at Bwindi in the evening.

Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge

This is the highlight of your Africa Package. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. Trek through thick rainforest, vines, and bamboo slopes to locate a gorilla family. Once found, spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants up close. Return to your lodge to relax after this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Depart Bwindi for Kasese, a 7-hour scenic drive through Ugandaโ€™s western highlands. On arrival, check into Trekkers Hostel at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. The lodge sits at 1,450 meters above sea level, offering stunning green surroundings and crisp mountain air, preparing you for the trek ahead.

Begin your Rwenzori climb through Afro-montane forest, alive with birdlife and primates. Spot colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and even wild chimpanzees. En route, visit Enockโ€™s Falls for scenic photography. Spend the night at Sine Hut, set on a ridge overlooking a waterfall, just below the bamboo zone.

Todayโ€™s trail passes through the bamboo zone and moss-covered forests. Stop for tea at Kalalama Camp before ascending along waterfalls and giant heather trees. Reach Mutinda Camp near a rushing river. Optional hike to Mutinda Lookout (3,925m) rewards you with sweeping views of Kasese and Lake George.

Cross the Namusangi Valley, filled with lobelias and everlasting flowers. The day is challenging with boggy sections, but the rewards are spectacular views of Bugata Lake and Weismannโ€™s Peak. Arrive at Bugata Camp, perched high above alpine lakes, surrounded by snow-dusted ridges.

Continue your climb through Bamwanjara Pass with breathtaking views of Mount Stanley and Mount Baker. Look out for malachite sunbirds and lobelia flowers along the way. Arrive at Hunwickโ€™s Camp, perfectly located for stunning panoramas of Ugandaโ€™s highest peaks.

Descend to Lake Kitandara, then climb Scott Elliott Pass to reach Margherita Camp. This site, first used by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906, sits among towering rocks that shelter you from winds. Prepare for the summit attempt tomorrow.

Wake up at 2:00 am for an early start. Equipped with ropes and crampons, ascend to Margherita Peak, the highest point of the Rwenzori Mountains. Marvel at the glaciers, Congoโ€™s vast rainforests, and sweeping alpine views. Descend to Hunwickโ€™s Camp for a well-earned rest.

From Hunwickโ€™s, cross ridges with panoramic views of the Nyamwamba Valley and Mt. Speke. Descend to Kiharo Camp, located in a deep valley surrounded by lush vegetation and cliffs. This area is rich with duikers, waterfalls, and colorful birdlife.

Trek down the Nyamwamba Valley through moss-covered forests, cascading waterfalls, and rocky ridges. Stop at Forest View Camp for lunch before completing your descent to Kilembe. Return to Trekkers Hostel for a hot shower and relaxation.

After breakfast, drive to Fort Portal and explore the crater lakes, with stunning views of the Rwenzori peaks. Continue to Kibale National Park, home to 13 primate species. Arrive at your lodge near the forest.

Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp

Track wild chimpanzees in Kibale, often seen swinging in the trees or feeding. Spend an hour with them while learning about their behavior. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project rich in birdlife, primates, and cultural encounters.

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with a stop at the Equator for photos and souvenirs. Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Africa Package adventure.
