Details Itinerary

Your Masai Mara Safari begins with a morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. From there, embark on a scenic drive of approximately four hours towards the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy panoramic views of the dramatic escarpments and surrounding countryside.

Continue the journey towards the Mara and arrive at your lodge or camp in time for a welcome drink and lunch. After some time to relax and settle in, head out for your first afternoon game drive.

The Masai Mara offers excellent opportunities to encounter a remarkable range of wildlife. Keep watch for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and cheetahs, while sightings of leopards may also be possible. Depending on the season and location, you may encounter hippos and crocodiles around the Mara River, as well as large herds of wildebeest, particularly during the annual migration period.

Continue exploring the reserve until sunset before returning to camp for dinner and an overnight stay. Spend the evening relaxing around the campfire or simply enjoying the peaceful sounds of the African wilderness.

Rise early and enjoy a cup of coffee before setting out for a full-day game drive across the Masai Mara. The early morning is an excellent time for wildlife viewing, as the cooler temperatures and soft morning light often bring animals into active areas of the reserve.

After breakfast, continue exploring the Mara’s diverse landscapes, from expansive grasslands to areas of woodland and riverine vegetation. Your guide will help you search for the reserve’s famous wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and numerous bird species. With patience and favorable conditions, you may also encounter a leopard or other less frequently seen animals.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the wilderness, giving you the opportunity to remain close to the wildlife and make the most of your time in the reserve. In the afternoon, continue with another game drive, visiting different areas in search of wildlife activity. You may see elephants near water sources, lions resting in the shade, or herds of grazing animals moving across the plains.

As the day draws to a close, return to Zebra Plains Mara Camp for dinner and relaxation. Spend your evening reflecting on the day’s encounters and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the Mara.
