Details Itinerary

Your journey begins at 7:30 a.m. from the designated pick-up point. After breakfast and a short bathroom break at Shell Kayabwe, you’ll stop at the Equator landmark to experience the fascinating phenomenon of the earth’s rotation on its axis. Next, you’ll hike briefly to the Eclipse Monument in Biharwe before enjoying lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre. Continuing the journey, you’ll stop in Kabale for an aerial view of the stunning Lake Bunyonyi from a viewpoint. Before arriving in Kisoro, a stop at Mt. Muhavura volcano viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama. You will then proceed to Kisoro town to check in and relax at Ichumbi Hotel.

After an early breakfast at 6:30 a.m., you’ll head to Mgahinga National Park for the day’s main activity—gorilla trekking. At the park gate, you will register and attend a briefing before being assigned a trekking group with guides and rangers. The trek lasts between 1 to 4 hours depending on gorilla locations, culminating in an unforgettable one-hour encounter with the gorillas. Upon return, you will be awarded a gorilla trekking certificate by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. After resting at the lodge, you’ll head out in the evening for a nature walk to Karunga viewpoint to witness a magical sunset over Lake Mutanda’s islands from above.

Following breakfast at 8:30 a.m., you’ll embark on a boat tour on Lake Mutanda. This two-hour trip allows you to enjoy stunning views of birdlife, surrounding volcano ranges, and visit the royal tombs cave containing mummies as well as Punishment Island. Later, immerse yourself in a local coffee experience, learning the process from bean to cup and tasting light, medium, and dark-roasted Ugandan arabica coffee. You will receive a souvenir pack of coffee based on your preference. To complete the day, enjoy a meal featuring local cuisine at a nearby restaurant before returning to your hotel.
