Details Itinerary

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from either the airport or your Nairobi accommodation. Depart the city and travel through Kenya’s productive farming regions, passing pineapple plantations, coffee farms, fruit orchards, and areas known for fresh agricultural produce. Along the way, stop at the open-air Karatina Market, one of the largest farm produce markets in the region, before continuing to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Arrive in time for lunch at Sweetwaters Serena Camp. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive through the conservancy, with opportunities to spot white and black rhinos, elephants, spotted hyenas, lions, cheetahs, black-backed jackals, bat-eared foxes, leopards, hippos, Grevy’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, and other wildlife. You will also visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which provides a safe home for orphaned and rescued chimpanzees.

Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight. An optional night game drive is available using the camp vehicle and shared with other camp guests.

Begin the morning with an early game drive in Ol Pejeta, giving you another opportunity to observe wildlife before returning for breakfast. Arrive at Samburu Sopa Lodge for lunch and some time to relax. Later in the afternoon, head out for an evening game drive to explore the reserve and search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and other wildlife. Alternatively, you can remain at the lodge and enjoy its facilities. Dinner and overnight will be at Samburu Sopa Lodge.

After breakfast, spend the entire day exploring Samburu National Reserve on game drives. The reserve offers opportunities to encounter some of northern Kenya’s distinctive wildlife, including the long-necked gerenuk, elephants, buffaloes, Grevy’s zebra, elands, lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Bird enthusiasts can also enjoy sightings of various bird species found throughout the reserve.

Take a break for lunch before continuing your safari later in the afternoon and into the evening. An optional visit to a Samburu cultural village can also be arranged for an additional cultural experience. Return to Samburu Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Continue toward Nanyuki, where you will stop at the Equator for photographs and a demonstration of the water-spinning effect on either side of the Equator. From Nanyuki, continue your journey to Nairobi, arriving in time for drop-off at your Nairobi accommodation or the airport for your onward travel arrangements.
