Day 1: Arusha to Central Serengeti
Your Africa Safari Tanzania journey begins with a morning transfer to Arusha Airport, where you board a scheduled scenic flight to Seronera Airstrip in the heart of Central Serengeti. The flight itself offers stunning aerial views of Tanzania’s landscapes, from volcanic highlands to the endless golden plains of the Serengeti.
Upon arrival, your professional safari guide will meet you for your first Serengeti game drive. The Seronera region is considered the wildlife capital of the park due to its permanent water sources and abundant prey animals. Lions are commonly seen resting on rocky kopjes, while leopards often lounge in acacia trees along the Seronera River. Cheetahs roam the open grasslands, scanning the horizon for gazelles and other prey.
During your afternoon drive, you may encounter large herds of zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and elephants grazing across the plains. Birdlife is also abundant, including secretary birds, ostriches, and colorful bee-eaters.
As the sun begins to set, you’ll head to Melia Serengeti Lodge, a luxury lodge perfectly positioned overlooking the Serengeti plains. Enjoy a delicious dinner while listening to the distant calls of wildlife under the African night sky.
Accommodation: Melia Serengeti Lodge
Day 2: Eastern and Southern Serengeti Discoveries
After breakfast, your Serengeti safari in Tanzania continues as you explore the Eastern Serengeti, an expansive landscape known for its open savannah and exceptional predator sightings. This region is particularly famous during the Great Migration calving season between January and March, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest gather to give birth. The abundance of newborn animals attracts lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, making it one of the best places in Africa to observe dramatic predator-prey interactions.
Your morning game drive may reveal massive herds of wildebeest and zebras spread across the plains, accompanied by gazelles and elands. The open terrain provides excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife observation.
Later in the day, continue south toward the Ndutu region, part of the Southern Serengeti ecosystem, where the short-grass plains stretch endlessly toward the horizon. This area is crucial to the annual migration cycle and offers incredible wildlife viewing year-round.
To maximize your safari time and avoid long drives, you’ll take a short internal flight to the Western Serengeti, landing near the Grumeti region. Here you’ll check into the spectacular Four Seasons Safari Lodge, known for its luxurious comfort and wildlife viewing decks overlooking natural waterholes.
Spend the evening relaxing at the lodge while elephants and other animals gather nearby.

Day 3: Western Serengeti Immersion
Day three of your Africa Safari Tanzania experience focuses on exploring the lush landscapes of the Western Serengeti, particularly around the Grumeti River. This region is one of the most scenic parts of the Serengeti ecosystem, featuring rolling hills, riverine forests, and expansive grasslands.
Between May and July, this area becomes the stage for one of the most dramatic phases of the Great Wildebeest Migration, when enormous herds cross the Grumeti River while avoiding large Nile crocodiles waiting in the waters. Even outside migration season, the Western Serengeti offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities.
During your game drives, you may encounter large herds of buffalo, elephants moving through the forests, giraffes feeding on acacia trees, and predators such as lions and leopards stalking the plains. The diverse habitats also support numerous bird species, including fish eagles, hornbills, and kingfishers.
After a full day of exploration, return to Four Seasons Safari Lodge for dinner and relaxation. Guests can unwind by the infinity pool overlooking the savannah or enjoy the lodge’s spa facilities while watching wildlife gather at nearby waterholes.

Day 4: Journey to the Northern Serengeti
After an early breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airstrip for a scenic flight to Kogatende Airstrip in the Northern Serengeti. This remote and spectacular region is famous for the dramatic Mara River crossings of the Great Migration, typically occurring between July and October.
The Northern Serengeti’s landscape is strikingly different from the central plains. Rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and woodlands dominate the scenery, while the Mara River winds through the wilderness creating vital water sources for wildlife.
Your afternoon Northern Serengeti game drive may reveal large herds of wildebeest gathering near the riverbanks, cautiously preparing for the dangerous crossing. Lions, cheetahs, and hyenas often patrol the area, taking advantage of the abundance of prey.
Other wildlife commonly seen here includes elephants, giraffes, hippos, and crocodiles along the river. Because this region is less visited than central areas of the park, it offers a more remote and exclusive safari atmosphere.
In the evening, arrive at Mara Mara Tented Lodge, an intimate safari camp that blends comfort with authentic wilderness surroundings. Enjoy dinner by lantern light while listening to the sounds of the African bush.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti Finale & Return to Arusha
Your final morning begins with a sunrise game drive in Northern Serengeti, one of the most rewarding times to observe wildlife activity. Predators are often still active after a night of hunting, while herbivores begin grazing as the sun rises over the savannah.
If the Great Migration is in the area, you may witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving toward the Mara River, creating one of nature’s most unforgettable spectacles. Even outside migration season, the region hosts abundant resident wildlife including elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
After breakfast at camp, transfer to Kogatende Airstrip for your return flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel or to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
Your 5-Day Africa Safari Tanzania concludes with incredible memories of Serengeti’s wildlife, landscapes, and unforgettable safari moments.
