Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi

Today is the highlight of your Gorilla Trekking Uganda safari. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family and trekking group based on fitness levels.

Accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, you will embark on a guided trek through the dense rainforest of Bwindi. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 7 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas and terrain.

Day 4: Fly Back to Entebbe – Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kihihi Airstrip for your scheduled return flight to Entebbe. Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will connect to your international flight home or continue your African adventure.

Day 1: Pick Up & Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Entebbe/Kampala by your professional driver-guide. You will drive north towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area.

En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for your first Big Five experience. Here, you will enjoy a guided rhino tracking walk, spending about one hour observing these endangered giants on foot in their natural habitat.

After the activity, continue to Kabalega Dinners for lunch before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival, enjoy game viewing along the way as you may spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, and possibly lions.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, known for its high concentration of wildlife. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, lions, and with luck, leopards, alongside abundant birdlife.

Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest before your afternoon highlight—a 3-hour boat cruise on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. This scenic cruise brings you close to large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and numerous water birds lining the riverbanks.

Day 1: Allocation to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Morning Pickup: On the first day of your 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour, you will either be picked at Entebbe Airport or in Kampala. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located on the Southwestern side of Uganda where drive from Kampala or Entebbe will take you around 8-9 hours. To others this might seem as a very long journey but this drive is worth the length as you will get to enjoy beautiful sceneries from the country side.

Afternoon Stop Over: Prior to having lunch at Mbarara you will have a stop at Kayabwe which is an iconic place on the equator which is ideal for photography and facts finding about the equator. After having a delicious lunch, you will proceed with your drive headed for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, during this afternoon drive you will see some of the beautiful landscapes in the “Pearl of Africa” ranging from hills, rivers, forested regions and banana plantations which are very appealing to watch. During this safari it would be nice if you would keep your camera close where you can capture some of the most captivating moments in this beautiful land.

Evening and Accommodation: You will arrive at the pre-booked lodge in the evening hours where you will enjoy delicious dinners and stay there for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Morning Update: After enjoying a heavy and healthy breakfast your guide will take you to the Park Headquarters for briefing and joining others prior to starting your journey to the forest for your gorilla trekking experience. The trek is usually timed and can take from half an hour to 7 hours which is subject to where you going to locate the troops of the mountain gorilla on that day.

Trek and observation: Once the gorillas are located by your guide you will be allowed to spend an hour with them while you enjoy interacting with them, capturing captivating moments with the mountain gorillas and observing their behaviours. You will be doing this prior to returning to the Park Headquarters where you will receive a certification that certifies you really have tracked with gorillas in Uganda.

Evening: You will return to the hotel where you will relax, have dinner and stay overnight as you wait for the next day.

Day 3: Return to Entebbe Airport or Kampala Marking an End to the Trip

Morning Allocation: After you have had a healthy breakfast, you will be driven back to where you were picked that might be either in Kampala or Entebbe. This is for your post-tour accommodation where you may opt to fly out of the country on the final day of your tour. During your transfer you will have an epic scene view of the Kigezi Roling hills as well as the terraced gardens of the Bakinga People that inhabit the southwestern region of Uganda.

There are two main types of transport to Bwindi. Ravina Tours can connect you to local flight where you can go for a fly-in means or a drive to the National Park. Best time to visit

There is not perfect time that you can single handedly say that this is the best season for you to go for gorilla trekking as Bwindi can be visited any month of the year. However, the most preferred time is in December to February and from June to September. During these seasons the weather in Bwindi is usually good allowing an easy time for you to engage in a swift trekking

You will wake up very early and take your breakfast. After breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s headquarters, where you will be briefed on the Do’s and Don’ts while with the mountain gorillas to ensure your experience is seamless. It is important to note that you will carry a packed lunch with you from the hotel.

After the briefing, you will be allocated the gorilla family to visit, based on your preferences or interests, fitness, and age. Before you start the trek, ensure to inform your tour guide regarding your preferences or interests so that he can request a gorilla family that suits your needs.

Trek

You will then be transferred to the starting point to start your trek into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Gorilla trekking can be challenging, necessitating a specific level of fitness for the best experience. The time you take on the gorilla trekking safari can range from 30 minutes to three-quarters of the day, based on your preference.

Day 1: Domestic Flight to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Morning/Flight: An Ravina Tours and Travel driver guide will pick you from your hotel and transfer you to Entebbe Airport, where you will take a domestic flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, landing at Kihihi (to access the Northern and Eastern parts of Bwindi) and Kisoro Airstrip (Southern part of Bwindi).

Afternoon and Lunch: Once you land, our driver guide will transfer you by road to the lodge where you will be spending the night. You may decide to fly to Bwindi in the morning or afternoon. Morning flights depart Entebbe for Bwindi at 7.45 am, while afternoon ones depart at 15.30 pm. For the southern part of Bwindi, that is, Kisoro Airstrip, there is only one morning flight that leaves Entebbe at 7.45 am.

Evening: You will spend the evening at the lodge awaiting the next day’s adventure. While at the lodge, you can decide to go for a nature or community walk to create unforgettable memories.

The trek can take you about 30 minutes to three-quarters of the day. The mountainous and lush landscape has numerous wildlife trails, which will allow you to access the terrain. Evening/ Accommodation: You will return to the lodge for a short break before heading to the Kasenyi Plains for an evening game drive. Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Morning:  You will wake up early, take your breakfast, and head out to Kasenyi plains for a morning game drive. On this game drive, you will have to spot the wildlife that you may have missed on the previous day.

Afternoon and Lunch:  You will go back to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to the pier for a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Kazinga is believed to be the largest natural water channel in the world and is known to have the highest concentration of hippos in the globe. While on the boat cruise, you will have a chance to spot an array of wildlife, such as water birds, crocodiles, buffalo, and elephants, among other animals that may visit the channel to drink water. You will also visit some fishing villages while on the boat cruise for a chance to witness the harmonic balance between nature and human beings. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge, where you will freshen up, take dinner, and spend the night.

Evening: You will spend the evening relaxing or engaging in other activities, such as swimming at the lodge.

Morning/Briefing

Soon as you are done taking your early morning breakfast alongside your packed lunch your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters. Here you will be briefed and do registration which will be around 7:45 am. You will be briefed on what to expect during your gorilla trek, the things to do and not to do during the Gorilla Trekking Uganda adventure.

Trek and Observation

Dedicated guides will lead you through the thick creepers and undergrowth’s as you trek to track the gorillas. This entire trek can take you around thirty minutes to 7 hours. Day 1:Start your 5 Day Gorilla and Hot air Baloon safari in Queen Elizabeth NP 

Early at 5:00 AM, an Ravina Tours and Travels driver will pick you up from the airport or hotel, and then you will be briefed as he confirms that what you booked matches what he has.

Later, at around 8:00 AM, you will proceed with your 5-day gorilla and hot air balloon safari from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is about 6 to 7 hours, including stopovers. Such stopovers may include Mpambire royal drum makers, observing how traditional drums, chairs or even stools are made. You will also stop at the equator so that you can have the opportunity to step on two hemispheres, the Northern and Southern hemispheres, at the same time, before going to Mbarara town for your lunch break.

Day 2:Hot Air Baloon Safari and Afternoon Cruise at Kazinga Channel

On the second day, the journey begins at around 5:30 AM, and all travelers will be transferred to the starting point.

As the hot air balloon is being assembled, you will be served a cup of tea or coffee to warm you up.

At around 6:30 AM, you will be briefed by one of the pilots on what is expected of you and the safety measures to be taken during the hot air balloon safari. The safari will take  45 minutes to one and a half hours, depending on the conditions of the day.

During the hot air balloon safari, you will observe wildlife from above, the Rift Valley floor and escarpments, the crater lakes, Mt. Ruwenzori and its associated features.The hot air balloon safari might end at around 7:30 AM, then you will be served a bush breakfast with champagne, and later receive your certificate of participation.
