3-Day Gorilla Habituation Safari

Highlights

This exclusive 3-day gorilla habituation safari in Uganda offers a rare opportunity to spend up to four hours with semi-habituated mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Unlike standard gorilla trekking (which allows just one hour), this experience gives you extended time to observe the behavior of gorillas as they get used to human presence. Currently, only two gorilla families — Bikingi and Bushaho — are part of the habituation process, and the experience is only available in the Rushaga sector. You’ll be guided by expert rangers and trackers who share valuable insights into conservation and gorilla behavior.

Details Itinerary

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your lodge in Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll drive through Uganda’s scenic countryside, with a stop at the Equator for photos, experiments, and restrooms. Lunch will be provided in Mbarara or another town along the way. The journey continues through rolling hills and rural villages until you reach Bwindi, where you’ll check in at your lodge near the Rushaga sector. Enjoy dinner and settle in for the night.
Accommodation: Four Gorillas Lodge

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla habituation. You’ll trek into the forest with experienced guides and trackers to locate the gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend up to 4 hours observing their interactions, learning about the habituation process and conservation work. After this once-in-a-lifetime experience, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
What to Pack: Comfortable clothes, waterproof boots, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, snacks, and a camera.
Accommodation: Four Gorillas Lodge
