Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp
After breakfast in Nairobi, drive to Nanyuki, arriving after about 3 hours. Continue to Sirimon Gate (2,650 m) where you will register with park authorities and meet your trekking team.
Begin your hike through the forest and bamboo zones along a well-defined trail. The route is gradual and allows your body to start adjusting to the altitude.
After 3–4 hours of trekking, arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300 m). Enjoy dinner and overnight camping as you acclimatize for the days ahead.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s Camp
After breakfast, continue your trek into the moorland and alpine zones. The scenery becomes more open, with wide valleys and unique high-altitude vegetation.
The trail passes through Mackinder’s Valley, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The hike takes about 6–7 hours as you steadily gain altitude. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp (4,200 m) in the afternoon. Rest, have dinner, and prepare for the early morning summit attempt
Day 3: Shipton’s Camp – Point Lenana – Old Moses Camp
Wake up early at around 2:30 am and prepare for the summit climb. Begin the ascent under the stars toward Point Lenana (4,985 m).
Reach the summit in time for sunrise, where you can enjoy breathtaking views across the Kenyan plains and, on clear days, distant views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
After the summit, descend back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast, then continue further down to Old Moses Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Old Moses Camp – Sirimon Gate – Nairobi
After breakfast, begin your descent through the moorland and forest zones. The walk is gentle and offers a final chance to enjoy the mountain scenery.
The hike takes about 2–3 hours to reach Sirimon Gate. Upon arrival, meet your driver and prepare for the return journey.
Transfer back to Nairobi, marking the end of your Mount Kenya hiking experience.
