Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for your Tanzania safari packages. You’ll meet your trekking team and receive a full briefing and equipment check.
Overnight at: Lindrin Lodge (or similar)
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) where the Tanzania safari trek begins. Hike through lush montane rainforest, keeping an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and exotic birds. After 3–4 hours, arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700m). You can take a short walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Leaving the rainforest, the trail climbs into moorland. Enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The hike takes about 5–6 hours, ending at Horombo Hut (3,720m), where you’ll rest and acclimatize.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today’s hike continues past the last water point and crosses the lunar-like alpine desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. After 6–7 hours, you’ll reach Kibo Hut (4,700m), where you’ll rest and prepare for the summit push.

Day 5: Summit to Uhuru Peak, then down to Horombo Hut
Start your summit attempt just after midnight. Hike steep scree slopes under starlight to Gilman’s Point (5,861m), then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the top, descend to Kibo Hut for a short break and lunch, then continue down to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest. This is the longest and most challenging day of the trek.

Day 6: Descend to Marangu Gate – Return to Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, begin your descent through moorland and rainforest, passing Mandara Hut on your way to Marangu Gate (1,860m). You’ll be met at the gate and transferred back to Moshi or Arusha for the night or your onward journey.
