Day 1: Machame Gate (1,490m) to Machame Camp (2,980m)
After an early breakfast in Arusha for your Tanzania safari packages, you’ll be transferred to Machame Village, where your climb begins. Once registered at the gate, the trek kicks off through the lush rainforest. Expect muddy and slippery conditions, especially if climbing in April, May, or November. After a packed lunch on the trail, you’ll reach Machame Camp in the late afternoon. Your porters will have your tent ready, and dinner will be served as temperatures begin to drop toward freezing.Accommodation: Machame Camp
Day 2: Machame Camp (2,980m) to Shira Camp (3,840m)
After breakfast, you’ll climb out of the rainforest and enter the moorland zone. The trail ascends gradually, offering expansive views as you reach the Shira Plateau. From here, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of the Western Breach and its glaciers. Shira Camp, where you’ll spend the night, is more exposed and colder than the previous night.Accommodation: Shira Camp
Day 3: Shira Camp (3,840m) to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco Camp (3,950m)
This is a crucial acclimatization day. After ascending to Lava Tower at 4,630m (the highest elevation so far), you’ll descend to Barranco Camp, allowing your body to adapt to the altitude. This “climb high, sleep low” approach significantly increases your chances of reaching the summit. The scenery is breathtaking, and you’ll pass through rugged alpine terrain before descending into the Barranco Valley.Accommodation: Barranco Camp
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,950m) to Barafu Camp (4,550m)
Begin your day by tackling the impressive Barranco Wall, a steep but manageable climb. Continue across ridges and valleys, passing the Karanga Valley, the last water point. From there, the trail ascends to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit push. This area is exposed and often windy, so you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the terrain before nightfall. Prepare your gear and try to rest early.Accommodation: Barafu Camp
Day 5: Barafu Camp (4,550m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Your summit attempt begins around 11:30 PM to midnight. Ascend through scree and snow to reach Stella Point (5,685m), where you’ll witness an unforgettable sunrise. Continue for another 1–2 hours to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating briefly at the summit, descend back to Barafu Camp for rest and then continue down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.Accommodation: Mweka Camp
Day 6: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate – Return to Arusha
After breakfast, enjoy a final celebration with your team before descending to Mweka Gate. Here, you’ll sign the park register and receive your official Kilimanjaro summit certificate—green for Stella Point, gold for Uhuru Peak. From the gate, you’ll be transferred to Karibu Heritage House in Arusha for a much-needed shower and a well-deserved rest.Accommodation: Karibu Heritage House
Day 7: Departure – Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport
Enjoy breakfast and some relaxation time before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home or onward destination. This marks the end of your Tanzania safari packages.
