Day 1

Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park

Your 5-day Kenya savanna escape safari begins in Nairobi with an early morning departure towards Tsavo West National Park. This day is about gradually transitioning from the city into Kenya’s wild landscapes, with your first opportunity to experience Tsavo’s dramatic scenery and wildlife.

After breakfast, meet your safari guide and begin the drive towards Tsavo West. Leave the city behind as the landscape changes to an open countryside, small towns, farms, and eventually the expansive wilderness of Tsavo.

Your guide will introduce you to the safari route, the wildlife you may encounter, and the different ecosystems you will experience during the trip. The journey to Tsavo West is definitely part of the experience. Along the way, you will enjoy views of changing landscapes and rural Kenyan life.

Also, there may be opportunities for short stops to stretch your legs, take photographs, or enjoy refreshments before continuing towards the park.

On arrival, you will enter Tsavo West National Park and begin experiencing its distinctive landscape. Unlike the wide-open plains of some Kenyan parks, Tsavo West is characterized by volcanic hills, rocky outcrops, acacia woodland, and open grassland.

You will head straight to your selected accommodation for lunch and check-in before heading out for the afternoon’s activities.

In the afternoon, you will visit Mzima Springs, one of Tsavo West’s most fascinating natural attractions. The springs form a lush oasis surrounded by dry landscapes and are fed by underground water flowing from the volcanic areas. The clear waters attract hippos, crocodiles, fish, and numerous bird species, making this an excellent introduction to Tsavo wildlife.

As the afternoon progresses, slow down and enjoy the changing colors over Tsavo’s volcanic landscape. This is an ideal time for photography as the softer light highlights the hills, lava formations, and wildlife.

In the evening, return to your accommodation before dark for dinner and relaxation.

Day 4

Tsavo East to Amboseli National Park

Day 4 takes you from the vast wilderness of Tsavo East to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. The day combines a final morning wildlife experience in Tsavo East with an afternoon introduction to Amboseli’s open plains, wetlands and spectacular mountain scenery.

Wake up early and head into Tsavo East for a final optional drive. The morning offers a last opportunity to encounter the park’s wildlife before departure. Return to your accommodation for breakfast and check out, beginning the journey towards Amboseli.

As you approach Amboseli, the landscape changes to more open plains with views towards the Kilimanjaro region. Along the way, enjoy views of the rural communities, farmland, and changing vegetation.

On arrival, head straight to your accommodation for lunch and check-in. Take some time to relax before beginning the afternoon game drive.

Head out across the Amboseli plains in search of wildlife. Explore areas around the park’s seasonal swamps and wetlands where animals often gather to feed and drink. Spend time observing Amboseli’s famous elephant herds. The park provides some excellent opportunities to watch them moving across the open plains. You may also encounter lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and other wildlife species.

Interestingly, where weather conditions permit, stop at a suitable viewpoint for photographs of Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind the Amboseli plains.

Continue with a relaxed late-afternoon game drive as the sun begins to set over the plains. Enjoy the beautiful combination of wildlife, golden grasslands, and, if visible, Mount Kilimanjaro from a distance.

Later, return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

Reflect on the trip and prepare for your departure.

Day 5

Amboseli to Nairobi

Your final day begins with one last opportunity to experience the beauty of Amboseli National Park before traveling back to Nairobi. An early start gives you the best chance of seeing active wildlife and, weather permitting, enjoying clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Afterwards, return to your accommodation for breakfast, freshen up, pack your belongings, and check out.

Begin your journey from Amboseli to Nairobi, traveling through the Kenyan countryside. Enjoy the final views of the changing landscapes as you leave the Amboseli ecosystem behind.

Stop for lunch along the way, providing an opportunity to reset and refresh before continuing to Nairobi.

You will be dropped off at your preferred location, whether at your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, bringing your 5-day Kenya savanna escape safari to an end.
