Day 1
Nairobi – Lake Naivasha via Hell's Gate National Park
Your Kenya safari begins with pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport, followed by a drive towards Lake Naivasha through the scenic Great Rift Valley. The journey provides an opportunity to see the changing landscapes of central Kenya before arriving at Hell’s Gate National Park.
Hell’s Gate is known for its dramatic scenery, including cliffs, gorges, volcanic formations, and open grasslands. Unlike many Kenyan parks, some areas of Hell’s Gate can be explored on foot or by bicycle with appropriate local guidance, making it a distinctive stop on this itinerary. Wildlife commonly encountered in the park includes zebra, African buffalo, giraffe, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, and baboons. The park is also an important birding destination, with numerous raptors and other bird species recorded.
You will have an opportunity to enjoy a guided bicycle experience through suitable areas of the park, allowing you to experience the landscape at a slower pace than a conventional game drive.
After exploring Hell’s Gate, continue to Lake Naivasha for check-in and relaxation. The lake is a freshwater Rift Valley lake surrounded by scenic highland landscapes and is known for its birdlife and hippopotamus population.
A one-hour boat excursion on Lake Naivasha can be arranged at an additional cost, subject to availability and suitable lake conditions. The excursion provides an opportunity to view hippos and waterbirds while enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Day 2
Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru National Park
After an early breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha and travel north towards Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes you through the Great Rift Valley before entering one of Kenya’s best-known wildlife areas.
Lake Nakuru National Park surrounds the alkaline Lake Nakuru and protects a variety of habitats, including woodland, grassland, rocky escarpments, and lakeshore environments. The park is particularly significant for rhino conservation and is home to both black and white rhinoceros.
Although flamingos are historically associated with Lake Nakuru, their numbers and distribution can vary considerably depending on water levels, food availability, and other environmental conditions. Rather than guaranteeing large concentrations of flamingos, your guide will help identify the birdlife present during your visit.
Other wildlife you may encounter includes buffalo, zebra, giraffe, waterbuck, hippo, and various antelope species. Lions and other predators may also be seen, although wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
After arriving, you will have lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Your safari guide will select areas to explore based on recent wildlife activity, road conditions, and the season.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3
Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and travel towards the Masai Mara National Reserve, continuing through the Great Rift Valley and the changing landscapes of southwestern Kenya.
The journey takes several hours, so the drive itself forms an important part of the day’s experience. Your guide can provide information about the landscapes, local communities, agriculture, and wildlife conservation areas encountered along the route.
Upon arrival in the Masai Mara area, check in at your accommodation and have lunch before beginning an afternoon game drive.
The Masai Mara is one of Kenya’s most renowned wildlife destinations and forms part of the wider Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. The reserve supports diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and numerous antelope species.
The timing of your visit can influence what you see. The annual wildebeest migration typically reaches the Mara ecosystem around July to October, although exact timing varies from year to year. Wildlife remains present throughout the year, so a visit outside migration season can still provide excellent game-viewing opportunities.
After the afternoon game drive, return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4
Full-Day Masai Mara Wildlife Experience
Today is dedicated to exploring the Masai Mara National Reserve. After breakfast, set out with your safari guide for a full-day game drive, carrying a packed lunch so you can spend more time in the reserve.
The Masai Mara’s combination of open grasslands, riverine habitats, seasonal watercourses, and scattered acacia trees creates favorable conditions for a wide range of wildlife. Your guide will determine the day’s route according to wildlife reports, seasonal conditions, road accessibility, and your interests.
The reserve is particularly well known for large populations of big cats. Lions are frequently encountered, while cheetahs and leopards may also be seen. Elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and several antelope species are among the other animals that may be encountered.
The Mara is also an excellent destination for birdwatching. Raptors, vultures, storks, bustards, bee-eaters, and many smaller bird species can be observed across different habitats.
Importantly, wildlife encounters are naturally unpredictable. Your guide’s local knowledge can improve your chances of finding animals, but sightings and specific species cannot be guaranteed.
After a full day in the reserve, return to your camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5
Masai Mara – Fly to Diani Beach
Start the morning with an early sunrise game drive, when wildlife can be particularly active and temperatures are generally cooler. This final game drive provides another opportunity to observe the Mara’s wildlife and landscape before leaving the safari region.
Return to camp at approximately 9:00 a.m. for brunch and prepare for departure. Depending on the flight schedule and transfer arrangements, your journey will continue towards the airstrip for your flight to the Kenyan coast.
Fly to Ukunda Airport, the main airport serving Diani Beach. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your beach accommodation.
Diani is known for its white-sand coastline, warm Indian Ocean waters, palm-lined beaches, and range of marine and leisure activities. The change from the savannah landscapes of the Masai Mara to the tropical coast provides a distinct second phase of your Kenya safari and beach holiday.
Spend the remainder of the day relaxing at the resort or enjoying the beach.

Days 6-7
Diani Sea Resort
Enjoy two full days at the Kenyan coast with time to relax and explore Diani at your own pace.
You can spend your mornings walking along the beach, swimming in the ocean where conditions are suitable, or relaxing around the resort. Guests interested in more active experiences can arrange optional activities such as cycling, windsurfing, canoeing, golf, or bodyboarding, depending on availability, weather, safety conditions, and the relevant operator.
Other marine and coastal excursions may also be available locally, allowing you to explore more of the Diani coastline. Optional activities are not included in the standard package unless specifically stated and should be confirmed when booking.
These two days provide a deliberate contrast to the early starts and game drives of the safari portion of the trip. You can use the time to rest, enjoy the resort facilities, or participate in activities that suit your interests.

Day 8
Diani Beach – Fly to Nairobi
Enjoy your final morning at the coast with time to relax before checking out. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have some free time at the resort before your transfer to Ukunda Airport.
From Ukunda, take a domestic flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival, a representative will transfer you either to your Nairobi city hotel or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your onward flight.
If your international flight departs later in the day, the transfer schedule can be coordinated around your confirmed flight details.
This marks the end of your 8-day Kenya safari and Diani Beach holiday.
