Experience Kenya’s wild side on a focused 4-day safari from Nairobi to Amboseli and Tsavo East National Parks designed for travelers who want an immersive wildlife experience without committing to a longer itinerary. The journey combines Amboseli’s iconic elephant herds and Mount Kilimanjaro views with the vast rugged wilderness of Tsavo East.

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi. Meet your safari guide and travel south towards Amboseli National Park, passing through rural landscapes, local communities and changing countryside.

The following morning offers another opportunity to experience Amboseli National Park during an early game drive before continuing towards Tsavo East National Park. As you travel between the two parks, the scenery gradually changes from Amboseli’s open plains to Tsavo’s rugged wilderness and distinctive red-earth landscapes.

Day 3 gives you a full day of exploration in Tsavo East with your experienced safari guide, looking for opportunities to observe predators, large herds and a variety of bird species. Tsavo’s vast plains creates beautiful conditions for photography and wildlife viewing.

The final day, you will begin the scenic journey back to Nairobi passing through Kenya’s countryside bringing your 4-day pure wilderness safari to a close.

Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your 4-day pure wilderness safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi heading south towards Amboseli National Park. As you leave the city behind, the landscape gradually changes to open countryside, farmland and traditional settlements giving you your first glimpse of rural Kenya.

Arrive in the Amboseli National Park around midday and proceed to your selected lodge or camp for check in and lunch. After some time of relaxation and freshening up, begin your first afternoon game drive in the park.

Explore Amboseli’s expansive plains and wetland areas, keeping watch of its famous elephant herds as well as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes and various antelope species. The park is also an excellent place for birdwatching especially around its wetlands.

On a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro rises dramatically in the background, creating an unforgettable setting for wildlife photography. As the afternoon progresses, continue exploring the park before returning to your accommodation for dinner and a peaceful evening in the wilderness.

Day 2

Amboseli to Tsavo East National Park

Begin the morning with an early breakfast at your lodge or camp before heading out for a final game drive in Amboseli. This is another opportunity to experience the park during the cooler hours of the morning, when wildlife is often active with Mount Kilimanjaro potentially visible from a distance.

After the morning drive, return to the lodge for breakfast or refreshments, complete check-out and begin towards Tsavo East National Park. The scenery changes along the way, moving from Amboseli’s open plains to the rugged, dry landscape and distinctive red soils associated with Tsavo East.

Arrive in the Tsavo East area around midday, check into your selected accommodation and enjoy lunch. After a short rest, head out for your first afternoon drive in Tsavo East.

Explore the expansive wilderness in search of wildlife. Tsavo East is especially know for its large red elephants which appear reddish because of the park’s red dust.

Continue with the game drive in the late afternoon, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and changing light for wildlife viewing and photography.

Return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Full - Day Tsavo East National Park

Day 3 is the main wildlife day of your 4-day pure wilderness safari, giving you a full day to explore the vast landscapes of Tsavo East. With morning and afternoon game drives, you have plenty of time to search for wildlife, discover different habitats and enjoy the untouched atmosphere of one of Kenya’s largest national parks.

Start the day with early breakfast or a packed breakfast before heading into the park for a sunrise game drive. The cool morning hours offer excellent opportunities to spot wildlife as they feed, moving between habitats, and search for water.

Continue deeper into Tsavo East, exploring its expansive savannah, bushland and areas around water sources. Your experienced guide will use their knowledge of animal behaviour and recent sightings to determine the best areas to explore.

Take a break around midday for lunch, either at your lodge or a designated picnic location, depending on the safari arrangement. After lunch, resume your exploration with an afternoon game drive.

The afternoon provides another opportunity to search for predators and large herds while enjoying Tsavo’s distinctive red-earth scenery and rugged wilderness. Keep your camera ready for elephants covered in red dust, giraffes moving across the plains and other wildlife against the dramatic landscape.

As the afternoon progresses, continue with a relaxed game drive while observing the changing light and wildlife activity. Before sunset, begin making your way out of the park and return to your accommodation.

Enjoy dinner and spend your final evening in the Tsavo wilderness preparing for the journey back to Nairobi on Day 4.

Day 4

Tsavo East National Park to Nairobi

Wake up early for your final safari experience in Tsavo East. After breakfast or with a packed breakfast, head into the park for a morning game drive while temperatures are still cool and wildlife is active. Also, the morning light also creates excellent conditions for photography, particularly across Tsavo’s distinctive red-earth landscapes.

After the game drive, return to your accommodation for breakfast or if you had a packed meal, then check out and prepare for your journey back to Nairobi.

Leave Tsavo East and travel through the Kenyan countryside, watching the landscape gradually change as you approach the capital. Stop for lunch along the way before continuing the journey.

Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon or evening depending on traffic and road conditions. You will be dropped off at your preferred location, hotel, residence or airport bringing your 4 day pure wilderness safari to an end.
