Day 1

Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

Your Kenya Safari Tours adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport at around 7:00 AM. You will depart the capital and travel through the scenic countryside toward the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley and pass near Mount Longonot before continuing toward the Mara. You may also encounter local Maasai communities and see herders tending their livestock along the route, offering a glimpse into traditional life in southern Kenya.

Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch, followed by a short break to relax and freshen up. In the late afternoon, head into the reserve for your first game drive. The Mara offers excellent opportunities to search for the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino—alongside cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, impalas, and other plains wildlife. As the sun begins to set over the savannah, enjoy the spectacular scenery before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Explore Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend the entire day exploring the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve, with extensive opportunities for wildlife viewing across its rolling grasslands. After breakfast, set out for a game drive in search of the reserve’s famous predators and large concentrations of plains animals. Your guide will carefully follow wildlife activity and may take you to areas where lions, cheetahs, and leopards are commonly encountered.

The Mara is home to an impressive variety of mammals and birds, making every game drive different. You could witness elephants moving in family groups, giraffes feeding among acacia trees, or herds of wildebeest and zebras crossing the open plains. Depending on the season, you may also experience the spectacular wildebeest migration, when large herds move between the Serengeti and Masai Mara in search of fresh grazing and water. A full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch can be arranged, or you can return to camp for lunch before an afternoon drive. After an exciting day in the reserve, return to camp for dinner and overnight.

As you travel toward Lake Nakuru National Park, enjoy the changing scenery of Kenya’s countryside and Rift Valley landscapes.

Upon arrival in the Lake Nakuru area, proceed to your lodge for lunch and some time to relax. Later in the afternoon, head into the national park for a game drive around the lake and its surrounding habitats. Lake Nakuru is well known for its rhino population and diverse birdlife. Depending on seasonal conditions, you may see flamingos gathered around the lake, together with pelicans and other waterbirds. The park also supports giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, leopards, lions, and both black and white rhinos. The wooded and open areas provide different wildlife-viewing opportunities as you explore with your guide. After the afternoon drive, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Samburu offers a distinctly different safari experience from the southern parks, with dry landscapes, rocky hills, open plains, and the Ewaso Ng’iro River providing an important water source for wildlife.

The reserve is particularly famous for its unique northern species, often referred to as the Samburu Special Five. These include the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, and Somali ostrich. You may also encounter elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and numerous bird species. Full-Day Samburu National Reserve

During the morning game drive, follow the Ewaso Ng’iro River and surrounding areas, where wildlife often gathers to drink. You may encounter elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, and other herbivores. The reserve is also home to predators such as lions, leopards, and occasionally wild dogs. After the morning drive, return to the lodge for lunch and a period of relaxation before heading out again in the afternoon.

The second game drive allows you to explore different sections of the reserve while searching for the distinctive Samburu wildlife. As evening approaches, enjoy the changing colors over the northern landscape before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
