From $2,340.00 USD* / 8 days

Price Per Person include guide, safari vehicle, accommodation and park entrance. International fees are excluded.

This 8-day Kenya safari tour combines four of Kenya’s renowned wildlife and scenic destinations: Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru National Park and the Maasai Mara National Reserve. It is an ideal option for travelers looking for Kenya safari tours that combine diverse wildlife experiences, scenic landscapes and opportunities to learn about local communities.

The journey begins in Nairobi and takes you to the elephant-rich plains of Amboseli, the freshwater ecosystem of Lake Naivasha and the rhino habitat of Lake Nakuru before continuing to the wildlife-rich Maasai Mara. Along the way, you will enjoy guided game drives, scenic viewpoints and optional experiences such as a Lake Naivasha boat ride and a Maasai cultural visit.

Your safari is conducted with a professional driver-guide who can adjust daily game-drive routes according to wildlife activity, road conditions, weather and park regulations. Because wildlife lives freely in these protected areas, sightings cannot be guaranteed, but your guide will use local knowledge and recent wildlife movements to maximize your opportunities for meaningful encounters.

This itinerary is suitable for travelers seeking a balanced Kenya safari tour covering several of the country’s major safari destinations without rushing through the experience. Pre- and post-safari accommodation in Nairobi can also be arranged at an additional cost, subject to availability.

Designed for travelers seeking memorable Kenya safari tours, this itinerary combines game drives, scenic viewpoints, diverse ecosystems and optional cultural experiences. Search for elephants beneath the views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, explore the scenic shores of Lake Naivasha, discover rhinos and other wildlife in Lake Nakuru, and spend three nights exploring the wildlife-rich Maasai Mara. With comfortable mid-range accommodation, guided game drives and flexible activities, this safari offers a well-rounded introduction to Kenya’s remarkable wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage.

Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your safari begins with a pickup from the airport or your Nairobi accommodation. Your safari representative will welcome you, introduce you to your professional driver-guide, and provide a briefing covering the route, daily schedule and practical considerations for the journey.

You will then drive southeast toward Amboseli National Park, a scenic safari destination best known for its large elephant population and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The journey provides an opportunity to see the changing landscapes as you leave Nairobi and approach the Amboseli ecosystem.

On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and have lunch before taking some time to relax. Later in the afternoon, you will head into the park for your first game drive. Depending on recent wildlife movements and the conditions of the day, your guide will select suitable areas to explore in search of elephants, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, buffaloes and other wildlife.

As evening approaches, you will leave the park and return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Day 2

Full-Day Amboseli National Park

An early morning start gives you the opportunity to experience Amboseli when temperatures are cooler and wildlife is generally more active. You will leave the lodge before or around sunrise for a game drive across the park.

The morning drive focuses on exploring areas where elephants and other plains wildlife are likely to be active. Amboseli is particularly well known for close elephant encounters, while open grasslands and seasonal wetlands can attract buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes and numerous bird species.

Weather permitting, the early hours can also provide excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the Amboseli landscape. Because mountain visibility depends on cloud conditions, clear views cannot be guaranteed.

You will return to the lodge for breakfast and time to relax during the warmer part of the day. After lunch, you will head out again for an afternoon game drive. Your guide will explore different sections of the park and adapt the route based on wildlife activity and recent sightings.

The afternoon drive continues until later in the day before you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Day 3

Amboseli National Park to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will depart Amboseli and travel toward Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. The journey takes you through changing landscapes before reaching the Rift Valley viewpoint, where you can stop to appreciate the dramatic escarpments and take photographs.

You will continue to Lake Naivasha and arrive around lunchtime, depending on road and traffic conditions. After checking in and having lunch, you can relax at the resort before taking part in an optional afternoon boat excursion.

A boat ride on Lake Naivasha offers a different perspective of the lake’s ecosystem. Depending on water conditions and wildlife activity, you may see hippos in the water and a variety of water-associated bird species along the shoreline.

An optional guided nature walk in a nearby sanctuary can provide another opportunity to observe wildlife on foot. Where permitted and under the supervision of a qualified guide, you may encounter giraffes, zebras and other animals at relatively close range.

You will return to the resort in the evening for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Lake Naivasha Resort

Day 4

Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, you will depart Lake Naivasha for nearby Lake Nakuru National Park. The journey takes you through the Great Rift Valley landscape before entering the park for a wildlife-focused experience.

Lake Nakuru is known for its diverse birdlife and is an important habitat for both black and white rhinoceroses. Although flamingo numbers can vary considerably depending on water levels, food availability and ecological conditions, the lake remains an important wetland within the region.

After arriving, you will check in and have lunch before beginning your afternoon game drive.

Your guide will explore suitable areas of the park in search of rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife. Lions and, with luck, leopards may also be encountered, although sightings of more elusive predators cannot be guaranteed.

The park’s varied habitats provide opportunities for photography and wildlife observation, with the guide helping you understand animal behavior, tracks, habitats and the ecological importance of the area.

After the game drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Ziwa Bush Lodge

Day 5

Lake Nakuru National Park to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will leave Lake Nakuru and travel toward the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The route passes through the Great Rift Valley and rural landscapes before reaching the Mara region.

A stop in or around Narok provides an opportunity to stretch your legs and take a short break before continuing toward the reserve.

You will arrive at your camp around lunchtime, depending on road conditions and the day’s travel schedule. After check-in and lunch, you will have time to settle into your accommodation before your first Maasai Mara game drive.

The afternoon drive takes you across the reserve’s open grasslands in search of its diverse wildlife. The Maasai Mara is renowned for its populations of lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest. Leopard sightings are also possible but are less predictable because these cats are elusive.

Your guide will select areas to explore based on the season, recent wildlife activity and local knowledge. You will return to camp after the game drive for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 6

Full-Day Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will set out with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara. Spending most of the day in the reserve allows you to cover a broader area rather than limiting wildlife viewing to the morning and afternoon sessions.

One of the day’s highlights may be a visit to the Mara River. The river forms part of the broader Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and is associated with the seasonal movement of wildebeest and other grazing animals. During the annual migration, river crossings can occur, but their timing, location and visibility are unpredictable and should never be guaranteed.

You may also stop at a suitable picnic location for lunch. The area commonly known as the Hippo Pool can offer opportunities to observe hippos and crocodiles from a safe and designated viewing area, subject to park regulations and current conditions.

After lunch, you will continue with another game drive through different sections of the reserve. Your guide will look for wildlife that may not have been encountered earlier, including predators, herbivores and bird species.

You will return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Accommodations:

  • Gold Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 7

Maasai Mara National Reserve – Wildlife & Optional Maasai Cultural Experience

Today offers greater flexibility. After breakfast, you can discuss the day’s schedule with your guide and choose between a relaxed morning and an additional game drive.

If you choose the game-drive option, you will explore the reserve during the cooler morning hours, when wildlife activity can be rewarding. The focus will be on species and areas you may not have encountered during the previous drives.

You will return to camp for lunch and some relaxation.

In the afternoon, you may choose to visit a Maasai community or cultural village. A properly organized cultural visit provides an opportunity to learn about Maasai traditions, livelihoods, crafts, ceremonies and contemporary community life directly from local residents.

Rather than treating the experience simply as a wildlife attraction, your visit should provide respectful interaction and support to the participating community. Activities and demonstrations vary according to the community and the arrangements made for the visit.

After the cultural experience, you will return to camp for dinner and your final overnight stay in the Maasai Mara.

Activities:

Accommodations:

  • Gold Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 8

Maasai Mara to Nairobi

After breakfast, you will check out and begin your journey from the Maasai Mara toward Nairobi.

The departure time can be coordinated with your guide according to your onward travel arrangements. If you have a late flight, your guide can help plan the departure timing to provide an appropriate travel buffer, although road and traffic conditions can affect journey times.

You will be transferred to your preferred drop-off point in Nairobi or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.

If your flight departs later in the day, additional Nairobi accommodation can be arranged at an extra cost, subject to availability.
