On arrival around lunchtime, you will check in at your selected silver, platinum, or gold accommodation option, have lunch, then head out for your first game drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Look out for black and white rhinos, elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife.

Day 2:

Full Day Wildlife & Conservation Experience at Ol Pejeta Conservancy

You will wake up early to the sounds of the African bush and prepare for a full day exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Unlike day 1, when you had an afternoon game drive, day 2 gives you more time to experience the conservancy at a relaxed pace and focus on both wildlife and conservation.

An early morning game drive will give you one of the best opportunities to see wildlife while temperatures are still cool. Wild animals are often more active at this time, you may spot elephants moving across the plains, lions beginning their day, buffaloes grazing, giraffes browsing on acacia trees, and large herds of zebras and antelopes.

Interestingly, Ol Pejeta is famous for its black and white rhino conservation, making this day different from what you will encounter later in Lake Nakuru and the Masai Mara.

Your safari guide will explain the conservancy’s conservation efforts and also help you understand the challenges facing these endangered species.

Depending on your Kenya safari package, you will have an opportunity to visit Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, offering you the opportunity to see chimpanzees, learn about them, and the importance of protecting them.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy lunch at your accommodation, then go for another game drive, giving you a chance to explore areas you may not have reached in the morning.

In the evening after the drive, you will begin to drive back to your accommodation for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 3

Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Lake Nakuru National Park

Day 3 takes you from the wildlife-rich landscapes of Ol Pejeta Conservancy into Kenya’s spectacular Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park. It is a day of changing scenery, wildlife, and one of the most scenic drives of the safari.

After breakfast, you will check out and meet your guide. Your driver-guide will help you load your luggage into the safari vehicle, and you will begin the drive towards Lake Nakuru.

As you travel, you will notice the landscape changing, giving way to the dramatic Great Rift Valley Scenery.

Depending on your route and timing, you can stop along the way to stretch and grab some refreshments.

You will continue with your journey towards Lake Nakuru National Park, a scenic wildlife destination surrounding the alkaline waters of Lake Nakuru.

You will head to your selected accommodation around lunchtime, depending on the road conditions and your departure time from Ol Pejeta. You will check in, settle in your room, and enjoy lunch.

Later in the afternoon, you will head out for your first game drive around Lake Nakuru National Park. You may spot rhinos, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, lions, leopards, warthogs, and other wildlife. Also, your guide may take you to suitable viewpoints overlooking the lake where you can enjoy views and take photographs.

As the afternoon comes to an end, return to your accommodation, freshen up, enjoy dinner, and relax.

Day 4

Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 4 takes you from the Great Rift Valley to the legendary Masai Mara, where the landscapes open into vast grasslands and the safari takes on a completely different feel.

You will wake up early, enjoy breakfast, and if your schedule allows, you can begin the day with a short game drive before leaving.

After the morning drive, you will return to your accommodation, collect luggage, check out, and begin your journey towards the Masai Mara.

The drive will take you through the Kenyan countryside and towards Narok, the main gateway to the Masai Mara. Along the way, your guide can point out interesting features and explain more about the communities and environment you are traveling through.

You will arrive in the Masai Mara around lunchtime, depending on road and traffic conditions. You will head straight to your selected accommodation, check in, and enjoy lunch before heading out for your first game drive in the reserve.

Your guide will decide which areas to explore based on wildlife movements, recent sightings, weather, and road conditions. If you are traveling between July and October, you may also have the opportunity to see parts of the Great Wildebeest Migration.

In the evening, you will return to your accommodation and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

Full-Day Masai Mara Safari

Day 5 is your full wildlife day with no long road transfers on the schedule. You can slow down and let the safari unfold naturally. Rather than rushing back to the lodge or camp for lunch, carry a packed lunch.

You will wake up early and have a light breakfast before heading out. Early morning is one of the most rewarding times for game viewing because many wild animals are active before the heat of the day. Your safari guide will take you through different parts of the reserve based on recent wildlife sightings and conditions. Predators can also be active at this time. You may encounter cheetahs scanning the plains, hyenas moving within, or lions returning from a night of hunting.

In the afternoon, instead of returning to your accommodation, you can enjoy a picnic lunch at an approved location that your guide will select.

After lunch, continue exploring the Mara.

In the evening after a full day in the wilderness, you will return to your lodge or camp, freshen up, enjoy dinner, and relax. Also, depending on your accommodation, you may have the opportunity to sit around a campfire.
